When we plan our coffees here at Baytown, it always starts with a table, a pot of coffee, and the whole team gathered round. There’s me (Brooke), keeping my ear to the ground with your daily feedback; Ted, our Head of Coffee, who’ll take on any sourcing challenge; Ann-Lou, co-owner and creative spark; Martin, our Managing Director; Jemma in marketing; and Chloe, who runs production and is now lending a hand with customer service too.
One thing we always come back to is just how much you all love Jingle Blend. We’ve often toyed with the idea of replacing it, but the verdict from you lot is clear: don’t touch it! Jingle Blend has earned its place at the Baytown Christmas table.
But there was still something missing.
The Christmas Dilemma
We all love a good after-dinner coffee, especially at Christmas. Or, even better, an espresso martini to round off the night. But here’s the snag: too much caffeine, and you’re staring at the ceiling until Boxing Day.
Cue Jingle Half the Way — our brand-new half-caff festive coffee. The perfect brew for when you want the taste, the ritual, and the magic of coffee… but without the wide-awake jitters. Picture this: Christmas dinner finished, bellies full, family gathered round the fire, and a rich espresso in hand (or shaken into a martini) — all without the caffeine crash.
A Special Coffee (and Not a Blend!)
Here’s the clever bit: Jingle Half the Way isn’t a mix of half-caffeinated and decaf beans. It’s a single origin coffee from Fazenda Rio Brilhante in Brazil, grown by the Urban family. The variety, Aramosa, is something quite special — a cross between Coffea Arabica and Coffea Racemosa, a rare species known for its naturally low caffeine levels.
Developed by Brazil’s Agronomic Institute of Campinas (IAC), Aramosa was created to combine the best of both plants: Arabica’s smooth, complex flavour and Racemosa’s low caffeine content and drought resistance. The result? A beautifully balanced coffee that has all the flavour and character of a full-strength cup, with roughly half the caffeine.
The Urban family are true coffee custodians — their farm spans 1,755 hectares, with nearly half set aside for forest and wildlife preservation. They hand-pick and sort every cherry, ferment for 36 hours, and sun-dry the beans to perfection. The result is a coffee that’s smooth, sweet, and just the thing for festive sipping.
