Hello! I’m Brooke — the office chatter, coffee lover, and proud Baytown-er.
If you’ve followed us for a while, you’ll know we love getting you involved in what we do — whether it’s picking names for our guest coffees, sharing behind-the-scenes roast days, or just having a natter about the best mugs for a morning brew (has to be a thin one for me)
A little while back, we launched a guest coffee called Bloomswell — and if you were with us then, you might remember the buzz it caused over on Instagram and Facebook. We put the name to a vote, and Bloomswell just about edged the win (by two votes!).
But there was another name in the running that we just couldn’t forget. Like the chorus of a catchy tune, it kept coming back to us…
Sunny Place.
Fast forward to this summer, and would you believe it? The stars aligned- Ted, our Head of Coffee (and all-round sourcing wizard), landed us a brand-new coffee from Guatemala, and when it came time to roast and release it... well, the timing couldn't have been better. Long days, sunshine in the Bay, and a fresh guest coffee on the cupping table. The name was already written for us: Sunny Place.

A Bit About the Coffee
This beauty is a washed Guatemalan light roast, sourced from a region that’s brand-new to us here at Baytown. Now, we know everyone loves a comfort brew (you can’t beat Brazil sometimes), but this time, we fancied something a little different — something that would lift your morning, brighten your afternoons, and bring a bit of zest to your brews.
Sunny Place is all that and more.
Expect a cup that’s fresh, fruity, and full of summer, with tasting notes of nectarine, raspberry and apple, rounded off with a gentle acidity and a clean, crisp finish. It’s been roasted with care to keep those delicate flavours shining through. We recommend brewing it as a filter, served black to get the full flavour party going.
The Story Behind the Beans
Grown high up on the volcanic slopes of San Marcos, this Guatemalan coffee gets its vibrant, complex flavour from rich soil, cool mountain air, and expert hands.

It’s farmed by Dieter and Holly Nottebaum, who’ve spent years producing top-notch coffee with deep care for the land. Their farm is a sanctuary for both beans and biodiversity — think shade-grown coffee and protected wildlife corridors winding through the estate.

What makes it even more special? Their commitment to people. There’s a primary school with a library for workers’ children, support for shared secondary education, and an on-site health clinic offering vaccinations and basic care. They even chip in to help local medical centres nearby.
They also provide free piped water to four local communities, reaching around 5,000 people, and recycle all water used at the mill to cut waste. Add to that a set of solar panels keeping things green — and you’ve got a farm that’s doing things properly.
When you brew Sunny Place, you’re backing better coffee and better futures. 🌱
