Our favourite method is the ‘upside-down’. Attach the plunger to the cylinder in the open position and place on a counter with the open end of the cylinder facing up. Add 17g of finely ground coffee. Now add a splash of hot (not boiling) water, and stir it with the special Aeropress stirrer. Then fill the cylinder with hot water, leaving a few millimetres at the top. Stir and leave to brew for 3 minutes before attaching the filter disc with paper already inserted. Turn and place over a mug or jug, and press the plunger all the way down.
